RX Therapy
Sexual Wellness
Therapies & treatments to restore desire, performance, and intimacy — for men and women.
Understanding
Sexual Health Is a Vital Sign
Sexual health is not a luxury — it is a fundamental dimension of overall wellbeing. When desire, performance, or intimacy are compromised, it affects relationships, self-confidence, mental health, and quality of life in ways that ripple through every area of daily living.
Yet sexual health concerns are among the most underdiagnosed and undertreated in conventional medicine. Patients are often told their labs are "normal" or given a prescription without any investigation into root causes — hormonal imbalances, vascular dysfunction, neurological factors, or psychological contributors.
At Viata Medical, Dr. Christine Green takes a comprehensive functional medicine approach to sexual wellness — evaluating the full hormonal cascade, cardiovascular health, nervous system function, and psychological factors to identify and treat the underlying causes of sexual dysfunction in both men and women.
Signs & Symptoms
Signs of Sexual Health Concerns
You don't have to accept changes in your sexual health as an inevitable part of aging. If something feels different, it may be worth taking a closer look. Common concerns in women and men include:
- ✓Low libido or decreased sexual desire
- ✓Difficulty becoming physically aroused
- ✓Erectile dysfunction or difficulty maintaining an erection
- ✓Vaginal dryness, irritation, or painful intercourse
- ✓Difficulty reaching orgasm or reduced sexual satisfaction
- ✓Reduced genital sensitivity or changes in sexual response
- ✓Decreased confidence or anxiety surrounding intimacy
- ✓Difficulty maintaining emotional or physical intimacy with a partner
- ✓Hormonal changes associated with perimenopause, menopause, or low testosterone
- ✓Fatigue, low energy, or reduced interest in sex
Sexual health concerns are common and often have more than one contributing factor. You deserve an individualized evaluation without embarrassment or judgment.
Contributing Factors
What Can Cause Low Libido & Intimacy Concerns?
Sexual desire and function depend on a complex interaction between hormones, circulation, brain chemistry, physical health, and emotional well-being. Identifying the underlying cause can help guide a more effective treatment plan.
Hormonal Imbalances
Low testosterone, changes in estrogen, menopause, perimenopause, or other endocrine conditions.
Cardiovascular Health
High blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, vascular disease, and reduced blood flow can contribute to erectile dysfunction and other sexual concerns.
Blood Sugar & Metabolic Health
Insulin resistance, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome may affect circulation, nerve function, and sexual response.
Thyroid Dysfunction
Both an underactive and overactive thyroid may affect libido, mood, energy, and sexual function.
Vitamin & Mineral Deficiencies
Low iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, or other nutrient deficiencies may contribute to fatigue and overall health problems that affect sexual well-being.
Chronic Stress & Sleep
Ongoing stress, anxiety, burnout, and poor sleep may interfere with desire and arousal. Sleep apnea may affect testosterone levels and sexual function.
Medications
Certain antidepressants, blood pressure medications, hormonal contraceptives, opioids, and other prescriptions may affect libido or sexual function.
Mental & Emotional Health
Depression, performance anxiety, body image concerns, past trauma, or relationship difficulties can influence intimacy.
Pain & Reproductive Health
Endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, vaginal tissue changes, infections, and other conditions may make intimacy uncomfortable.
Lifestyle Factors
Smoking, excessive alcohol, substance use, inactivity, and poor nutrition may affect circulation, hormones, and sexual response.

A Root-Cause Approach
Look Beyond Hormones
Low libido or erectile dysfunction does not automatically mean you need hormone therapy or medication. Your symptoms may be related to several factors that deserve attention.
Dr. Green will review your health history, medications, lifestyle, symptoms, and relevant laboratory results to help identify potential contributors. Depending on your individual needs, your evaluation may include:
- ✓Hormone testing when indicated
- ✓Thyroid function and metabolic markers
- ✓Blood sugar, cholesterol, and cardiovascular risk factors
- ✓Iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, or other nutrient testing when appropriate
- ✓Review of medications, supplements, sleep, stress, and lifestyle habits
Support Sexual Health Naturally
Depending on your needs, we may discuss practical ways to support sexual wellness through:
- ✓Balanced nutrition and correction of identified nutrient deficiencies
- ✓Regular physical activity to support circulation and cardiovascular health
- ✓Better sleep and stress management
- ✓Limiting excessive alcohol and avoiding tobacco
- ✓Addressing metabolic concerns and other underlying health conditions
- ✓Relationship communication, pelvic floor support, or counseling when appropriate
Our approach is individualized. Natural strategies can be valuable, but they may not resolve every cause of sexual dysfunction.
Hormone Therapy & Sexual Wellness
Hormones play an important role in desire, arousal, and sexual comfort. For appropriate candidates, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may help address certain menopause-related symptoms, including vaginal dryness and discomfort. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may be considered for men with compatible symptoms and consistently low testosterone levels confirmed through appropriate testing.
Hormone treatment is not the right solution for everyone. We evaluate your medical history, risks, symptoms, and treatment goals before discussing whether hormone therapy may be appropriate.
The Functional Medicine Approach
Root Cause Medicine, Not Just Symptom Management
Functional medicine looks beyond surface-level symptoms to identify the underlying biological, hormonal, and lifestyle factors driving sexual dysfunction. Rather than prescribing a single medication, Dr. Green works to understand why your body is out of balance — and correct it at the source.
Your initial consultation is a comprehensive 60–90 minute deep dive into your entire health history — available in person at our Greenwood, Indiana clinic or via telehealth. Together, you'll review past labs, medications, symptoms, lifestyle, and relationship factors to build a complete picture of your sexual health.

P-Shot & O-Shot
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) procedures harness your body's own growth factors to regenerate and rejuvenate sexual tissue — naturally, without synthetic drugs or implants. Dr. Green is a trained provider of both the P-Shot and O-Shot.
The P-Shot uses concentrated platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood and injected into specific areas of the penis to stimulate tissue regeneration, improve blood flow, and enhance sexual function. The procedure is performed in-office with topical anesthesia and takes approximately 30 minutes.
Unlike oral medications, the P-Shot addresses the underlying tissue health — making it effective even for men who have not responded to PDE5 inhibitors. Results typically improve over 4–8 weeks as new tissue forms.
What the P-Shot Can Address:
- ✓Erectile dysfunction (including medication-resistant ED)
- ✓Reduced sensitivity or sensation
- ✓Peyronie's disease (penile curvature)
- ✓Improved size, girth, and firmness
- ✓Enhanced sexual performance and confidence
- ✓Post-prostatectomy sexual recovery
What to Expect
Blood draw → PRP/PRF preparation (15 min) → topical anesthesia → injection (10–15 min). Minimal downtime. Most men resume normal activity the same day. A series of 2–3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is often recommended for optimal results.
The O-Shot uses platelet-rich plasma injected into the clitoris and anterior vaginal wall (the G-spot area) to regenerate nerve endings, improve blood flow, and enhance sexual response. The procedure uses topical anesthesia and takes approximately 30 minutes in-office.
The O-Shot is particularly effective for women experiencing sexual changes related to hormonal shifts, menopause, childbirth, or aging. It works synergistically with hormone optimization for comprehensive sexual wellness.
What the O-Shot Can Address:
- ✓Decreased sexual desire and arousal
- ✓Difficulty achieving or maintaining orgasm
- ✓Vaginal dryness and painful intercourse
- ✓Reduced clitoral and vaginal sensitivity
- ✓Stress urinary incontinence
- ✓Lichen sclerosus (vulvar skin condition)
What to Expect
Blood draw → PRP/PRF preparation (15 min) → topical anesthesia → injection (10–15 min). No downtime. Most women notice improvements within 3–6 weeks. A series of 2–3 treatments is often recommended for lasting results.
